[Reno rolls up nearly two full hours later on a motorcycle, making as much noise as possible because that's his way and honestly what else would anyone expect? It must not be his bike (and let's be real, he probably stole it he definitely stole it), since he lets it fall sideways onto the ground with a crash as he saunters toward the church door, the epitome of No Fuxx Given.
He's all grins of course, which makes him look especially demented (even more so than usual) with the considerable bruise he's sporting over one side of his face. He's lucky his eye isn't swollen shut. But that's what healer Ancients are for, right? FUCKIN' RIGHT.]
YO. [His voice echoes obnoxiously off the church walls. If the Midgar slums had birds, they'd definitely be flocking toward the rafters right about now.] Don't worry princess, I'm here now.
[ Reno made good on that promise before he made it inside the church. The sound of his motorcycle disrupting the peace within the church was enough to make Aerith look towards the doors she knew he would inevitably burst through and frown tiredly.
Still, she had offered to help and since she volunteered to put herself into this situation, and thus into Reno's path (something she generally avoided if only because she preferred to keep her life as separate from Shinra as possible), she was going to have to play nice. Or try to.
The doors blow open and he announces himself in the same heartbeat, making her stand from the patch of lilies she's been tending, smoothing her dress out as she approaches. ]
[He lets the doors bang shut behind him, because obviously Reno can't do anything unless it's at top volume. Still, it could be worse; he isn't actively smoking and no one seems to be pursuing him, so all in all this can probably be considered a tame day so far as the wily Turk is concerned.
It's been a while since Reno visited the church. He takes his sweet time making a show of looking around (like anything is likely to have changed), moving deeper into the church until his heavy boots stop just shy of the lilies Aerith had been tending. After scrutinizing them for a moment, he abruptly turns and plops gracelessly down onto the nearest pew.]
Been a hot second since I got clocked this good. Hurts like a mother. Heh. You should see the other guy.
[ Not yet willing to relent to the urge to roll her eyes he drums up so effortlessly and (she's sure) purposefully Aerith waits until Reno's sitting down before she approaches, the tips of her fingers lifting his chin so that she can lean in and study his eye with a disapproving frown. ]
What did you do to yourself?
[ The question's posed under her breath and not without a tight note of exasperation as she continues to scrutinize him, working to keep the sincere pang of worry she feels for him off her face. He'd never let her live it down. ]
I know you can't wait to tell me.
[ She's not the most experienced when it comes to men, but she knows that when one mentions how bad the other guy ended up, there's usually a story they're dying to get off their chests behind the remark.
If it keeps him still enough for her to lift a hand to his eye as she draws on the cure materia attached to one of the heavy bangles around her wrist, she'll humor him for now. ]
[To be fair, a black eye (no matter how bad) is still reasonably minor compared to some of the injuries Reno has endured. In his line of work, he considers himself lucky any time he makes it home with all of his limbs in tact, though he'd never admit it out loud. He's survived far worse than this, but Aerith doesn't need to know about the plethora of scars that mar his skin beneath his suit.]
I might have insulted the guy's mother... but in my defense, how was I supposed to know he was such a momma's boy? People got no sense of humor.
[He hisses as her fingertips brush over his bruised skin, jerking his head back more for show than anything else. Even though his eye hurts like fuck, he can still see and as far as he's concerned, it's more of a badge of honor than anything else.]
He was huge. Like, bigger than Rude. Twice his size.
[He leans forward again as she reaches for the Cure, which maybe he should consider adding to his own collection of materia some day. It'd be easy enough to get -- he could probably even convince corporate to pay for it but... nah. More fun playing the injured "hero."]
I would've been able to dodge too, if his girlfriend hadn't been shoving drinks at me all night. [He pauses for dramatic effect, scrunching his nose as though he just had some sort of grand epiphany.]
Actually, maybe it wasn't the comment about his mother that pissed him off...
[ Keeping her hand hovering just above his bruised eye, the gentle green light of healing magic passes from her palm to his injuries. Aerith listens as he speaks, the look of disapproval on her face growing with every new detail Reno decides to reveal about the course his night took. ]
Don't you think everyone reacts badly to comments like that?
[ Normally Aerith is the last person to go looking for a fight, but, picturing it, she can see why the allegedly giant stranger gave Reno a shiner like that. It's not that she would do a thing like that herself, but, knowing Reno as she does, she could sort of see why someone might opt for that course of action.
Either way, after a few moments of work the damage is mostly undone, though he might feel a bit tender still for another night or two. Stepping back, Aerith let her fingers trace over his cheek. ]
Um, no. [This time, his wince might be less for show and more genuine. He keeps his face mostly still at least, only squinting a bit instead of jerking away as the Cure starts to work on his bruises.]
I mean like, you wouldn't be upset if I said your mother-- [Actually, wait. Nope. Full stop. Because Ifalna has definitely slapped Reno upside the head at least thrice when he's tried to mouth off in front of her and LET IT NOT BE SAID a Turk can't learn his lessons where they're due.]
...y'know what? Nevermind. Maybe I should've kept my fuckin' mouth shut. [Ifalna done taught this boy some manners. Eventually.] But yo, anyone makin' it that easy to piss 'em off, I'm just sayin' they aski-- [He almost yelps as the last bit of the Cure knits his torn flesh together. It hurts, dammit. But it's worth it if he doesn't have to go to any more board meetings sporting a giant shiner. He almost looks sheepish as his eyes open again, blinking up at her.]
[ Aerith's gaze begins to sharpen just as Reno stops himself and thinks the better of whatever drivel was about to come out of his mouth. Saying nothing she huffed out a sigh, continuing her work while he continued to ramble.
Let it never be said she didn't find herself in interesting company when Reno was around at least.
As the last of his bruises fade Aerith drops her hands and steps back, looking over his face. ]
[Yeah, okay, he pretty much walked into that one. 'Jerky' is pretty harsh though, even to his unvirginal ears. Reno scowls, reaching out to grasp Aerith's wrist before she can pull away completely. Injured he may be, but his reflexes are still lightning-fast.
Within the span of a couple blinks, he releases her wrist, fearing for his life as any man would. He heaves a heavily dramatic sigh instead.]
Look. I can't be held responsible for my... honest mistakes, yeah? [The way he scrunches up his nose might be adorable if it wasn't obvious that he thinks he's being cute.]
...it's still that bad? Y'know I could get you some better Cure if yours is faulty... [Yes, Reno. Blame the materia.] Jerky, really? Now who's gonna sleep with me?
[And yes, he gives Aerith an obvious once-over, complete with waggling eyebrows if just because he knows she'd never offer.]

HI HELLO
There's nothing wrong with my materia, I think the problem is you.
[ Bright eyes narrow sharply as amusement peeks through all that carefully curated disdain. ]
There are some things even a mastered Cure can't fix.
[ Reno looks her over and Aerith shakes her head disparagingly. That's a thought he can get right out of his head. ]
